NEET UG: The NEET UG entrance exam is conducted every year for admission to medical graduation courses such as MBBS, BDS, etc. The exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency at various designated centers across the country. Last year, this exam was held on May 4th. This year too, NEET UG 2026 is likely to be held in May 2026. Students who have passed their 12th grade with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology streams can appear for the NEET UG exam. General category students must have 50 percent marks in the PCB stream in their 12th grade. For OBC, SC, and ST category students, the 12th-grade passing criteria in the PCB stream is 40 percent. General category candidates with disabilities who have passed their 12th grade with 45 percent marks in the PCB stream can also apply. Reserved category students with disabilities who have passed their intermediate exams with 40 percent marks in the PCB stream can also appear for the exam.

How many marks is the NEET UG exam worth, and what is the passing criteria?
The NEET UG exam has removed optional questions from Section B. The exam consists of a total of 180 multiple-choice questions. In the 2025 paper, there are 45 questions each from Physics and Chemistry subjects, and 90 questions from Biology. The exam is for a total of 720 marks. No changes have been made to the marking scheme yet. Four marks are awarded for each correct answer, and one mark is deducted for each incorrect answer. The NEET UG passing criteria for the General category is set at 50 percent. For SC and ST categories, it is 40 percent.

How many candidates participated in NEET UG 2025?
Approximately 22.76 lakh candidates registered for NEET UG 2025, while 22.09 lakh appeared for the exam. 12.36 lakh candidates passed the examination. The minimum age to appear for the exam is 17 years. There is currently no upper age limit.
