NEET UG 2026: Which medical college and course will you get based on your All India Rank? Find out here..
NEET UG 2026 Rank vs. College: After the NEET UG 2026 results are declared, every medical aspirant has one primary question: "Which college or course will I get based on my All India Rank (AIR)?" Admission to courses like MBBS, BDS, and AYUSH (BAMS, BHMS) in government and private medical colleges across the country depends entirely on your NEET rank. However, the specific college you secure is not determined by rank alone; several other crucial factors—such as your category (reservation status), state quota, seat availability, and counseling rounds—also play a significant role.
Find out where you might get admission based on your rank
Looking at past counseling trends, here is an estimate of college prospects based on different rank ranges:
AIR 1 to 100 (Top choice for toppers)
If your rank falls between 1 and 100, you are in a very strong position. You can easily secure an MBBS seat at the country's premier medical institutions, such as AIIMS New Delhi, and other top government medical colleges.
AIR 100 to 5,000
Students falling within this rank range have an excellent opportunity to secure admission to prestigious central institutions and top state-run government medical colleges.
AIR 5,000 to 20,000
Students in this rank bracket can also secure government MBBS seats. There is a strong possibility of obtaining a seat in state government colleges through the state quota (which accounts for 85% of seats) and reservation categories.
AIR 20,000 to 50,000
Securing an MBBS seat in a government college becomes somewhat difficult at this rank level. However, opportunities may still arise through state quotas in certain regions or in semi-government and private medical colleges.
AIR Above 50,000 (Private colleges and other courses)
For students with a rank higher than 50,000, options remain open in private medical colleges. Apart from this, they can choose excellent career paths in BDS (Dental), AYUSH courses (BAMS, BHMS), or other allied healthcare programs.
