NEET UG 2026: According to an official notification from the NTA, the NEET UG 2026 re-examination will be conducted simultaneously across the country on June 21; the exam is scheduled to take place on a Sunday. Extra security measures are being implemented this time around.

NEET UG 2026: Relief has arrived for lakhs of medical aspirants across the nation. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has finally announced the new date for the NEET UG 2026 re-examination. The exam, which was cancelled following a paper leak controversy, will now be re-conducted on June 21, 2026. Consequently, students now have approximately one month left to prepare. Previously, allegations of paper leaks and irregularities surfaced in several states regarding the NEET UG exam held on May 3. Following an investigation, the Central Government and the NTA decided to cancel the examination.

Now that the re-exam date has been announced, students have once again immersed themselves in their preparations. This period is considered crucial for the more than 22 lakh students appearing for the exam. Experts suggest that, rather than studying new topics at this stage, students should focus more on revision, mock tests, and time management. In light of this, we would like to share with you today some tips that will prove extremely useful for students preparing for the NEET UG re-examination.

Re-Exam to be Held on June 21

According to the official notification from the NTA, the NEET UG 2026 re-examination will be conducted simultaneously across the country on June 21; the exam is scheduled for a Sunday. Additional security arrangements are being put in place for this examination. Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also acknowledged that a paper leak had indeed occurred during the exam held on May 3, following which the decision to cancel the examination was taken. It is reported that students will be allotted an additional 15 minutes of time for the exam this time around. Meanwhile, admit cards will be available for download starting June 14. Furthermore, the NTA has clarified that students who previously appeared for the examination need not re-apply for the exam. No additional fee will be charged to any candidate; students will be able to download their admit cards from the official NEET UG portal.

What Should Students Do Now to Prepare?

Experts suggest that, instead of panicking, students should now focus on further strengthening their preparation. At this juncture, it is crucial for students to identify their weak areas and devote extra effort to those specific topics where they are making recurring errors.

Focus Primarily on NCERT

NCERT textbooks are considered the most vital resource for NEET preparation; particularly in Biology and Chemistry, the majority of questions are directly derived from the NCERT syllabus. For Biology, students are advised to repeatedly revise chapters such as Genetics, Human Physiology, Ecology, and Biotechnology. Meanwhile, in Chemistry, maintaining a strong command over Organic Chemistry, Chemical Bonding, and Thermodynamics is deemed essential. In Physics, chapters like Current Electricity, Modern Physics, Ray Optics, and Mechanics are identified as carrying high weightage.

Emphasize Mock Tests and Revision

According to experts, this is no longer the time to continuously study new topics. Students should now focus on daily revision and taking mock tests. Revising at least one chapter daily, reviewing formula sheets, and practicing MCQs can prove to be extremely beneficial. Students should also practice filling out OMR sheets to minimize the likelihood of errors during the actual examination.

Adopt These Strategies During the Exam

Educators advise that, inside the examination hall, students should first attempt only those questions of which they are completely confident. It is better to defer any questions regarding which there is doubt to the end of the exam. Furthermore, many students are experiencing mental stress following the announcement of the re-examination. Experts emphasize that, at this time, adequate sleep, a light diet, and a calm mind are absolutely essential. Adhering to a regular routine—rather than studying continuously late into the night—will prove to be far more beneficial.
