What has changed in the counseling process this year?

Several new features have been introduced in the NEET UG 2026 counseling process. Candidates have been given 'Freeze' and 'Float' options; those wishing to accept their allotted seat can choose the 'Freeze' option, while those hoping for a better seat can opt for 'Float' and participate in the subsequent round. For such candidates, document verification will be conducted online, eliminating the need to physically report to the college during every round. Additionally, the process of surrendering a seat has been made entirely online. Verification of NRI quota documents will also be carried out digitally. The MCC has further strengthened the systems for document verification, cybersecurity, and grievance redressal.
