NEET UG 2025: If you are dreaming of becoming a doctor, then first of all you have to cross the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate Entry Gate. Only after this, you can climb the first step of becoming a doctor. This exam is one of the most important and challenging exams on the path to becoming a doctor. The competition is very high with more than 20 lakh candidates appearing in this exam in the year 2023. If you are also preparing for NEET UG 2025, then read the things given below carefully.

NEET UG Exam Structure
The NEET UG exam is based on 200 multiple-choice questions (MCQs), divided into three major subjects Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany and Zoology). Students have to answer 180 of these questions. Each subject is divided into two sections:

Section A: It consists of 35 compulsory questions.

Section B: It consists of 15 multiple choice questions out of which 10 are to be answered.

This format provides flexibility to students to select questions according to their strengths.

Topic-wise preparation strategy
To succeed in NEET UG, subject-wise planning and smart preparation are important. Adopting a specific approach for each subject is the key to scoring well in the exam.

Physics
Physics can prove to be complex for many students. Hence, the emphasis should be on understanding the concepts behind the formulas rather than memorizing them. Pay special attention to chapters with high weight such as Mechanics, Thermodynamics, and Modern Physics. Regular practice improves problem-solving and speed.

Chemistry
Chemistry is divided into three parts namely organic, inorganic, and physical. In organic chemistry, focus on reaction mechanisms and numerical. In inorganic chemistry, focus on trends in the periodic table and coordination compounds. Physical Chemistry requires a strong understanding of thermodynamics and chemical equilibrium.

Biology
This is the subject with the highest weightage in the exam. Focus on important areas like human physiology, genetics, and ecology. It is important to develop a deep understanding of biological processes and the interrelationships between them. Emphasis on understanding rather than memorizing.

Role of NCERT
The role of NCERT books is extremely important in NEET UG preparation. These books are especially useful for Biology, as almost 90% of the questions in the exam come from it. Additional resources may be needed to solve deeper problems in Physics and Chemistry, but NCERT books provide a strong conceptual base.

Candidates should read NCERT books repeatedly and pay special attention to highlighted points, diagrams, and tables. Making summary notes of each chapter can also be helpful.

Time Management Strategies
A large part of success in NEET UG depends on effective time management. Here are some strategies.

Allocating 60 minutes each for Physics and Chemistry and 90 minutes for Biology can be a reasonable strategy. In the first pass, solve the questions whose answers you know completely. Come back to the difficult questions in the second pass.
