NEET UG 2025: There are 780 medical colleges and 11 lakh 8 thousand 190 MBBS seats across the country. The National Medical Commission (NMC) has recently released state-wise and college-wise MBBS seats. According to the data released by NMC, Karnataka has the highest number of MBBS seats and Uttar Pradesh has the highest number of medical colleges.

According to NMC data, Uttar Pradesh has the highest number of 86 medical colleges. After this, Maharashtra has 80, Tamil Nadu has 77 and Karnataka has 73 medical colleges. Telangana has 65, Rajasthan has 43, Gujarat has 41, Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal have 38-38, Kerala has 34, Madhya Pradesh has 31, Bihar has 22, and Odisha has 19 medical colleges. Whereas Chhattisgarh has 16, Haryana has 13, Assam has 14, Punjab has 13, Jammu and Kashmir has 2, Delhi and Uttarakhand have 10 each, Jharkhand and Puducherry have 9 medical colleges each. Himachal Pradesh has 8, Manipur has 4, Tripura has 3 medical colleges.

These states have 1 medical college each.

Sikkim, Nagaland, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Goa, Chandigarh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli have only one medical college each.
