NEET PG 2025: The Supreme Court has postponed the hearing on the petition demanding transparency in the NEET PG 2025 exam till next week. This decision has increased the anxiety of the students who were eagerly waiting for the counseling of the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) starting from September 5. The students have appealed to the court for an early hearing.

What is the matter
This year, many big changes were seen in the NEET-PG exam. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) had earlier decided to conduct the exam in two shifts, but later it was conducted in a single shift on the orders of the Supreme Court. This change eliminated the need for normalization (the method of equalizing marks).

After this, the board took a big step and said that it would release the complete questions and answer key of the exam, but soon issued a new notice stating that only the 'Question ID' would be released, not the complete questions. The students objected to this and filed a new petition in the court, demanding complete transparency in the examination.

The court asked the petitioners.

During the hearing, the Supreme Court asked the petitioners why they think there is no transparency in the examination. Is it because your marks are low? The court also said that whenever the court tries to make something easy, people take advantage of it and start asking for marks and an answer key using Article 32. To which the petitioners argued that just releasing the question ID defeats the purpose of the answer key, because no one can check their answers without seeing the full questions.

The counselling schedule will be released soon.
The Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) is likely to release the NEET-PG 2025 counseling schedule for 50% All India Quota seats soon. The National Medical Commission (NMC) has made it clear that medical colleges do not need to reapply for recognition of seats; they just have to submit their annual report and fee details.

When was the exam held?

The NEET-PG 2025 result was released on August 19.

The exam was conducted in a single shift on August 3.

Pushan Mahapatra had secured the top rank.

This exam is for admission to postgraduate medical courses in medical colleges across the country.

Strict service bond in Karnataka

Students taking admission in medical colleges of Karnataka will be required to serve in the government for one year. A three-year service bond in government hospitals will be mandatory for students taking admission on government or AIQ seats. If someone does not follow this, then they can be fined up to Rs 18 lakh.
