NEET PG 2025 Round 1 counseling begins tomorrow, learn about the choice filling process.
The MCC has now reset the entire timeline, with the biggest update being that Round 1 choice filling and choice locking will begin tomorrow, November 17th.
The wait is finally over for thousands of medical PG aspirants across the country, as the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) has finally released the revised schedule for NEET PG 2025 counseling. The counseling start date had been postponed due to a delay in approving the seat matrix. Now, the MCC has reset the entire timeline, with the biggest update being that Round 1 choice filling and choice locking will begin tomorrow, November 17th.
This counseling will apply to 50 percent of All India Quota (AIQ) seats and 100 percent of seats in deemed universities and central universities. Candidates will have to complete all steps, from registration to seat reporting, online only through mcc.nic.in.
Round 1 Counseling Choice Filling Process
The biggest change in NEET PG 2025 counseling is that Round 1 choice filling will now begin on November 17th and continue until the night of November 18th. During this time, candidates will be able to select their preferred college and course according to their preferences. The choice locking process will take place on November 18th from 4:00 PM to 11:55 PM. Before Round 1, seat matrix verification at institutions will take place on October 23rd, while registration and fee payment can be completed by November 5th. Following this, MCC will allocate seats on November 19th and release the results on November 20th. Candidates who have secured seats will have to report between November 21st and 27th, and institutions will complete document verification between November 28th and 30th.
Round 2 Counseling Choice Filling Process
Round 2 is a shorter and faster process. Seat matrix verification will take place on December 1st, and registration and choice filling will be available from December 2nd to 7th. Choice locking will take place on the evening of December 7th. Seat allocation will then take place on December 8th and 9th, and the results will be declared on December 10th. Selected candidates will be required to report from December 11th to 18th, while document verification will take place from December 19th to 21st. Round 2 is generally beneficial for candidates who did not receive a seat in Round 1 or wish to upgrade.
Round 3 Choice Filling Process
The third and final regular round will begin with seat matrix verification on December 22nd. Registration will take place from December 23rd to 28th, and choice filling will take place from December 24th to 28th. Choice locking will take place on December 28th. Seat allocation will be completed on December 29th and 30th, and results will be released on December 31st, 2025. Candidates must report between January 1st and 8th, 2026, while institutes will conduct document verification from January 9th to 11th. This is followed by the stray vacancy round, which is the last opportunity for counseling. Any vacant seats are filled during this round.
Seat matrix verification will be conducted on January 12th, while registration and option filling will run from January 13th to 18th. Choice locking will occur on January 18th, and the seat allocation process will be completed from January 19th to 20th. Results will be released on January 21st, and candidates can report until January 31st, 2026.
