A historic sight was seen today, May 30, at the NDA campus in Khadakvasla, Pune. This site was seen for the first time in the history of NDA. The first batch of 17 women cadets who passed out from the National Defense Academy were awarded graduate degrees. A glimpse of Nari Shakti was seen in the passing-out parade. The parents of the cadets were also invited to it. At least 339 cadets were awarded degrees during the convocation ceremony of the 148th NDA course held at the academy. Former Army Chief General VK Singh attended the parade.

Addressing the parade, he said that for the first time in history, a batch of girls was passing out from this ground. Salute to Nari Shakti. VK Singh said that this is the beginning of a new possibility for girls. He also took the salute of the parade and gave President's Medals to 3 cadets.

NDA Passing Parade 2025: Shriti Daksh registered her name in history
Division Cadet Shriti Daksh registered her name in history. She became the first female cadet to receive the Silver Medal and Chief of Air Staff Trophy for securing the first rank in the BA stream. Lucky Kumar was awarded the Chief of Army Staff Trophy for topping the BSc stream. Battalion Cadet Captain Prince Kumar Kushwaha won the Chief of Naval Staff Trophy for topping the Computer Science branch and Academy Cadet Captain Udayveer Singh Negi became the topper in the BTech stream.

NDA Parade 2025: When did women enter NDA?

Women entered NDA in 2021. After the Supreme Court's decision in 2021, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for the first time allowed women to apply for the NDA exam. Earlier, women were not allowed to apply for this exam. The cadets were awarded B.Sc., B.A., and B.Tech. Degrees from Delhi-based Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU).

NDA Passing out Parade 2025: How many women have been admitted to NDA so far
Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth had told Parliament in March that since the entry of the first batch of women cadets in 2022, a total of 126 women have been admitted in NDA so far. Out of which 121 are currently undergoing training. At the same time, a total of 5 cadets had resigned. 121 women are from 17 states of the country. Haryana has the highest number of 35 women cadets.
