NCERT Revises Class 9 Syllabus; New Mathematics Book Released

NCERT has begun releasing revised Class 9 textbooks for the 2026-27 academic session. As part of this initiative, the new mathematics book is now available in the market, while the new social science book will also be available soon.

NCERT has taken another step towards transforming the study methods and curriculum for Class 9 students in the new academic session. The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has started releasing revised Class 9 textbooks for the 2026-27 session. Under this initiative, the new mathematics book has been released to the market, and the new social science book will soon be available to students. These books have been prepared in accordance with the revised school syllabus. According to NCERT, the new editions are being developed in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE) 2023. This process is being carried out as part of a phased plan to release the new books.

New Mathematics Book Available in the Market

The printing of the revised Class 9 mathematics book, *Ganita Manjari* (Part 2), has been completed, and it has been made available for sale starting September 21, 2026. Students, parents, teachers, and schools can purchase it through authorized channels. NCERT has clarified that the availability of this book is part of the revised curriculum being implemented for the 2026-27 session. In other words, the new book is being provided to students in accordance with the updated curriculum for Class 9 for the upcoming academic session.

New Social Science Book Available from September 30

Following the mathematics book, the revised Class 9 social science textbook will also be released. Sales for *Understanding Society: India & Beyond* (Part 2) will commence on September 30, 2026. According to NCERT, once the book becomes available, students and schools will be able to purchase it through authorized sales channels. Thus, the new editions of both Class 9 subjects will be made available to students on different dates.

Where can one buy the new NCERT books?

NCERT has advised students, parents, teachers, and schools to purchase books only through authorized channels. The new Mathematics book is currently available, while the Social Science book will be available for purchase starting September 30. Both books will be made available at NCERT sales counters, the official NCERT website, and Amazon.

Changes under NEP 2020 and NCF-SE 23

The new Class 9 books have been prepared in alignment with the revised curriculum. NCERT states that the new editions have been developed keeping in mind the evolving learning needs of students and will assist schools in implementing the revised curriculum. NCERT has also clarified that the Mathematics and Social Science books are being made available according to the established plan and the previously approved schedule.
