NCERT has made some changes in the Class 8 Social Science book, and the new book covers Indian history from the 13th to the 17th century. Let us tell you what this new book has to say about the Mughals and the Delhi Sultanate.

NCERT released Part 1 of Class 8 Social Science 'Samaj Ki Khoj: Bharat Aur Upay' this week for the ongoing academic year. This is the first book among the new NCERT books in which students are told about the Delhi Sultanate and the Mughals. Some changes have been made in this book, and many examples of religious intolerance during the Delhi Sultanate and the Mughal period have been given. Let us tell you what this book has to say about Babar, Akbar and Aurangzeb.

What is in the new book?

In this new book released by NCERT, Babur has been described as a cruel and ruthless conqueror. Akbar has been described as a mixture of tolerance and cruelty. If we talk about Aurangzeb, he has been described as the destroyer of temples and gurudwaras and along with this, he has been described as the one who imposed taxes on non-Muslim people. In this new book, the chapters telling the Indian history from the 13th century to the 17th century focus on 'Reconstruction of the political map of India, the rise of the Delhi Sultanate, its fall and resistance, the Vijayanagara Empire, the Mughals and their resistance, the rise of the Sikhs'.

What is written in the special note?

Why all this information has been given by NCERT in this new book, its justification has been explained in 'Commentary on some dark periods of history'. Not only this, in one chapter of this book, there is a warning for the people through a special note or say that there is a message for them. It is written in it, 'No one should be held responsible for the events of the past today.' This has been done so that after knowing the history, it does not have a negative impact on our present.

Let us tell you that earlier all these subjects were given in the book of class 7th but now NCERT says that the period of Indian history which includes Delhi Sultanate, Mughals and Marathas, will now be taught only in the new chapters of class 8th. Let us also tell you that claims of change are being made by NCERT. At present, no answer has been given by NCERT on this nor any clarification has been presented.
