In 'Veena', children will now read stories of Artificial Intelligence, Gaganyaan Mission, and ISRO. These lessons will tell them how India is leaping into space and leaving the world behind in technology. These stories will arouse enthusiasm for science in children and inspire them for the future.
Children will read the lesson of Ganga.
Children will be taught the lesson about the Ganga River. During this time, this book will take them on a journey from Gomukh in the Himalayas to the Bay of Bengal. Starting from the silver-clear water of Gangotri, the children will learn how the Ganga becomes muddy due to pollution by the time it reaches Haridwar's Kumbh Mela and Kashi. This lesson will not only talk about the purity of the Ganga but will also teach the importance of water for saving the environment and farming.
The story of Muralikant
To inculcate the spirit of sports and patriotism, 'Veena' includes the story of Paralympic swimmer Muralikant Rajaram Petkar. Despite being paralyzed due to a bullet injury in the 1965 Indo-Pak war, he did not give up and won India's first gold medal in swimming in the 1972 Paralympics. This story will teach children that if there is hard work and passion, then no difficulty is impossible.
Panchtantra stories will teach morality.
The 2500-year-old Panchtantra stories and the tales of King Vikramaditya and King Bhoj will teach morality, wisdom, and sensitivity to children. These stories are not only fun but will also help children understand the difference between right and wrong. The story of the historical streets of Ujjain and King Vikramaditya's 'Chair of Justice' will connect children to our rich heritage.
Information from Haryana to Assam
'Veena' will take children on a tour of different states and cultures of India. Stories of the importance of cow milk in Haryana, Loktak Lake in Manipur, Kaziranga National Park in Assam, and the Sadken festival celebrated on Buddha Purnima in Arunachal Pradesh will make children familiar with the diversity of India. These lessons will instill a feeling of love and unity for the country in children.
Ajanta-Ellora is also part of 'Veena'
The 2000-year-old caves of Ajanta and Ellora are also part of 'Veena'. Children will get to read about the temples, beautiful sculptures, and paintings of these caves. This lesson will introduce them to the depth of Indian art, culture, and engineering.
Will be implemented in many states
NCERT has prepared 'Veena' under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes learning through games and activities. This book will be taught in the fifth class of CBSE and many state boards from the 2025-26 session. It will not only teach children but will also allow them to think, understand, and connect with the heritage of the country. The stories of 'Veena' will give children a new perspective. There is a wonderful combination of modernity and tradition.
