NCERT: Fake Class 9 book goes viral on social media; NCERT issues alert, advises students and parents to be cautious..
NCERT: The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has issued an important alert for students, parents, and teachers. The Council stated that a Class 9 Social Science book currently circulating rapidly on social media and messaging platforms is not an official NCERT publication. It is being falsely propagated as a new NCERT book.
NCERT Alert Regarding the Viral Book
NCERT clarified that no textbook is published or released to the public before the official process is completed. Therefore, any so-called new or unpublished NCERT book found on social media should not be accepted as authentic without verification.
According to the Council, such material circulating online may have been altered, could be incomplete, or might be entirely fake. If students study from such material, they may receive incorrect information, which could impact their studies and exam results.
Advice to Students, Parents, and Teachers to Remain Vigilant
NCERT has urged students, parents, and teachers to verify the authenticity of any book, notes, or educational material. The Council stated that reliance should be placed only on study material provided through official sources.
Download Books Only from Official Sources
NCERT reminded everyone that all its books and educational materials are protected under copyright law. Printing, copying, selling, distributing, or sharing them without permission is illegal, and action can be taken under the Copyright Act, 1957, and other relevant laws.
The Council noted that its official digital books are available free of charge on the NCERT website and the e-Pathshala portal. Students should download books only from these platforms.
Action Against Those Spreading Fake Material
NCERT also stated that it is taking action against those spreading fake and pirated educational material. The Council has appealed to the public to report any suspicious books, websites, apps, links, or social media channels to NCERT via email so that timely and necessary action can be taken.
The Council maintains that the use of accurate and authentic study material is essential to ensure better preparation and academic success for students.
