The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has opened the admission process for the Diploma in Guidance and Counseling (DCGC) course for the 2026 academic session. This course is designed to enhance the professional competence of teachers, school administrators, and educational personnel and to address the mental health and career guidance needs in schools.

Online Application Deadline
Candidates can apply online by visiting the official NCERT website, ncert.nic.in. The deadline for submitting applications is November 5, 2025.

Training in Three Phases
This course will be conducted in three phases.

Phase 1 (January-June 2026): A six-month distance learning period.
Phase 2 (July-September 2026): A three-month face-to-face contact program at designated study centers.
Phase 3 (October-December 2026): A three-month internship in the candidate's hometown or workplace.
What are the eligibility requirements?

Teachers, teacher trainers, school administrators, and untrained guidance personnel from India can apply for this course.

What is the fee?
Candidates deputed from the Central Government: 19,500
Candidates deputed from a State/Union Territory: 6,000
Private candidates: 30,000
Candidates will have to bear their own expenses for boarding and lodging during the outreach program.
Training Center
This course is designed to train teachers, school administrators, and education personnel in mental health and career guidance. The training will be conducted at NCERT, New Delhi, and five Regional Institutes of Education. Admission will be at DEPFE, NCERT, New Delhi, and Regional Institutes of Education located in Ajmer, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Mysore, and Shillong. Each center has a maximum of 50 seats.

Selection Process
Selection will be based on a screening, essay writing, and an interview by a committee. Candidates must submit attested copies of certificates related to their qualifications and experience along with their application.
