NBEMS has issued a revised guideline related to stipends for MBBS trainee doctors. Trainee doctors can see it by visiting the official website.

NBEMS i.e. National Board of Examination in Medical Science has issued a notice for MBBS trainee doctors. This notice is a revised guideline regarding stipend, which is very important to know. It is clearly stated in the official guideline that the NBEMS trainee must be given stipend by a recognized hospital / medical institute. Trainee doctors in private hospitals, government institutes, central PSUs, railways, ESIC, central autonomous bodies, and all hospitals of the central government can see the notice by visiting the official website of NBEMS natboard.edu.in.

How much stipend should be given?

The notice said that first year medical trainees studying in post MBBS DNB (broad specialty) courses will get a stipend of Rs 35,000. Second year medical trainees should be given a stipend of Rs 37,000 and third year medical trainees should be given a stipend of Rs 39,000. Along with this, first year medical trainees studying in post diploma DNB (broad specialty) courses will get a stipend of Rs 37,000. Also, second year medical trainees should be given a stipend of Rs 39,000.

How much for post MBBS- broad specialty?

Apart from this, first year students studying in two-year diploma (post MBBS- broad specialty) courses should be given Rs 35,000 and second year trainees should be given Rs 37,000. Students studying in Doctor NB (Super Specialist) courses should be given a stipend of Rs 41,000 in the first year, Rs 43,000 in the second year and Rs 45,000 in the third year. Also, candidates of FNB courses should get a stipend of Rs 41,000 in the first year and Rs 43,000 in the second year.

Advice given to hospitals

The notice further said that the hospital should keep revising the stipend according to the changes implemented by the state and central government authorities from time to time. Hospitals can give more stipend to the trainee doctor than the minimum stipend fixed by NBEMS. It was also said that if the candidate is given hostel (accommodation), they can reduce the stipend in return.
