MTech at IIT Ropar: IIT Ropar has signed an agreement with the Indian Army to launch a Master's program in Defence Technology. This initiative is for officers of the Armoured Corps Centre & School (ACC&S) and aims to strengthen academic engagement and research in defence innovation.

The agreement signing ceremony with the Indian Army was attended by Lieutenant General S S Mahal, PVSM, AVSM, VSM (Retd.), Professor of Practice, IIT Ropar; Shri Veerabhadra Singh Rawat, Professor of Practice, IIT Ropar; Prof. Sarang Gumfekar, Associate Dean (PG and Research), IIT Ropar; Brigadier Kaushal Panwar, Commander SOTT; Colonel Tarun Badola, Senior Instructor, HQ SOTTT; and esteemed faculty and staff from both ACC&S and MIC&S.

IIT Ropar Director Rajiv Ahuja emphasized the transformative nature of this partnership, stating that this collaboration marks a significant shift in how India approaches defence technology education. Ahuja said, “By combining IIT Ropar's intellectual prowess with the Indian Army's operational excellence, we are creating a unique model that will produce defence technology leaders who will help make India self-reliant in the critical defence sector. This is our contribution to Viksit Bharat 2047.”

Course to Develop Technology Leaders
The M.Tech (Defence Technology) program has been developed through the joint efforts of ACC&S and IIT Ropar, with a curriculum focused on applied learning, hands-on research, and innovation-driven problem-solving to prepare officers to become technology leaders within the armed forces.
