MDRA Annual Survey: AFMC emerges as Maharashtra's top medical college; check the list of the top 10 institutions..

The Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune, has achieved remarkable success. The institute secured the first position in Maharashtra and the third position nationally in the ‘India Today-MDRA Best Medical College Ranking 2026’. It has also emerged as the country's highest-ranked government medical college with the lowest tuition fees. The institute performed exceptionally well across the ranking's evaluation parameters. It secured the second rank nationally in terms of career progression and placements, and achieved the third position in both objective and perceptual scores.

Further strengthening its national standing, the Armed Forces Medical College secured the fifth position among all medical colleges in India in the ‘THE WEEK-Hansa Research Survey 2026’. It has been ranked as the top medical college in the Western region, underscoring its leadership in medical education and training within the area. These achievements reaffirm AFMC’s illustrious legacy of excellence and inspire the institute to set even higher standards in education, research, patient care, and leadership, thereby contributing to the advancement of military medicine and national healthcare services.

This year, the survey covered 62 medical colleges across the country. AIIMS Delhi secured the top spot on the list of medical colleges. According to the rankings, Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry, secured the second position, while Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, ranked third; Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore, ranked fourth; and Maulana Azad Medical College, Delhi, ranked fifth.

Scores of the Top-10 Medical Colleges
All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi, holds the first position with a PCP score of 173.7 out of 180.

Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) holds the second position with a PCP score of 153.7 out of 180. Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune, ranks third with a PCP score of 136.9 out of 180.

Christian Medical College and Hospital has secured the fourth position with a PCP score of 155.4 out of 180.

Maulana Azad Medical College has secured the fifth position with a PCP score of 142.9 out of 180.

Vardhman Mahavir Medical College and Safdarjung Hospital rank sixth with a PCP score of 130.3 out of 180.

King George's Medical University has secured the seventh position with a PCP score of 131.5 out of 180.

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Jodhpur, ranks eighth with a PCP score of 124.5 out of 180.

University College of Medical Sciences (UCMS) has secured the ninth position with a PCP score of 97.1 out of 180.

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar, ranks tenth with a PCP score of 104.7 out of 180.
