TET Guidelines 2026: The situation regarding the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) in Madhya Pradesh has been clarified. The Education Department has issued guidelines. According to these guidelines, it is mandatory for teachers who have not passed the Teacher Eligibility Test—conducted under the Right to Education (RTE) Act—to take the TET exam. This time, the exam will be conducted in offline mode by the Board of Secondary Education (MP Board).

**No Need for CTET-Qualified Teachers to Take TET**
According to the guidelines, primary-level Assistant Teachers, Primary Teachers, Assistant Teachers, Contract School Teachers (Category-3), and Primary Teachers (Science/Laboratory) working in government schools will fall under the purview of this exam. Additionally, High-Grade Teachers, Middle School Teachers, Teachers, and Contract School Teachers (Category-2) working at the secondary level will also participate in the exam.

However, teachers who have already passed the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) will not be required to take the TET. Meanwhile, teachers instructing primary and secondary classes in non-government (private) schools will also be eligible to appear for this eligibility test.

**October 5 is the Last Date**
Applications must be submitted via the Staff Selection Board's portal. The deadline for submitting applications is October 5, 2026. According to the department, teachers will be allotted an exam center at the headquarters of the district where they are currently employed.

Under a special arrangement, teachers from Pandhurna and Mauganj districts will be able to take the exam at centers in Chhindwara and Rewa districts, respectively. However, if the number of candidates in a particular district is very low, the MP Board reserves the right to allocate centers in a neighboring district or at the divisional level.

It is reported that approximately 1.5 lakh teachers fall within the scope of this exam; however, only about 19,000 applications have been submitted so far.
