The Jharkhand government had recently cancelled 36 examinations and postponed 6 others conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC), jeopardizing the jobs of candidates who had been recruited through these processes. A hearing regarding this matter took place in the Jharkhand High Court on Thursday. While hearing various petitions, the High Court stayed the decision to cancel the recruitment examinations, providing relief to the officers whose jobs were at risk. During the hearing, the High Court directed the state government to file its response, along with a counter-affidavit, within 15 days.

Let us understand the entire matter in detail, look at what the Jharkhand High Court has said, and examine why the Jharkhand government had cancelled more than 40 recruitment processes.

**High Court's decision on various petitions**
The Jharkhand High Court delivered this verdict while hearing multiple petitions filed against the government's order to cancel JPSC competitive examinations, bringing relief to a large number of candidates. The matter was heard in the court of Justice Deepak Roshan. Advocates Indrajit Sinha and Amritansh Vats argued on behalf of the petitioners. The High Court issued this order while hearing petitions filed by Saurabh Singh, Awadhesh Kumar, Deep Mala, and Sonam Kumari.

**Government cancelled recruitment following student protests**
A student protest had erupted at Ranchi's Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium against irregularities in JPSC and JSSC examinations. Following this, the state government announced the cancellation of 22 examinations and ordered a CID inquiry into 23 others. Additionally, an assurance was given to constitute an examination reform committee headed by IAS officer Amitabh Kaushal. The student protest, which had lasted for 26 days, ended thereafter. However, the state government's decision to cancel the recruitment examinations had impacted the jobs of over 2,300 candidates.

Committee to Submit Report Within Two Months
The committee formed under the leadership of IAS officer Amitabh Kaushal to bring about reforms in the JPSC and JSSC is required to submit its report within two months. Following a cabinet meeting on Monday, the Soren government announced the cancellation of the JSSC Combined Graduate Level (CGL) examination—one of the key demands of the protesting students. Additionally, the government cancelled all examinations conducted by the outsourcing agency TDPL, as well as the results declared by it.
