Major setback for CGPSC aspirants; Civil Services Exam interview postponed..
The Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission (CGPSC) has postponed the document verification and interview process for the State Civil Services Exam 2025. No specific reason has been cited for this move. The decision was taken just four days before the interviews were scheduled to begin, leaving candidates in a state of uncertainty. This recruitment drive aims to fill a total of 265 posts across 20 departments of the Chhattisgarh government. It has been announced that new dates for document verification and interviews will be declared later.
**Advice to Candidates**
In an official notice, the Commission stated that the new dates for the document verification and interviews—originally scheduled from September 20 to October 1—will be announced on its official website. Candidates are advised to regularly check the Commission's website for the updated schedule. The examination was conducted across various districts of Chhattisgarh on February 22, 2026.
**Decision Taken Amidst Opposition Demands**
The CGPSC made this decision following demands from the opposition to postpone the interviews until the issues raised by the candidates were fully resolved. Candidates have been consistently demanding transparency in the selection process. Congress leader and former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has reiterated these demands, which include the following:
* Candidates' answer sheets should be made public before the interviews are conducted.
* Unsuccessful candidates should be provided with copies of their answer sheets free of cost.
* Guidelines for the experts evaluating the answer sheets should be established; model answers for the Mains exam should be released, and the answer sheets should be re-evaluated.
* The 1:3 ratio (three candidates per post) for calling candidates to the interview stage must be strictly adhered to.
The Congress party had raised serious questions regarding the evaluation of answer sheets and the number of students shortlisted for the interview in this recruitment drive. For now, the recruitment process has come to a halt, and there is no information regarding what will happen next. The selected candidates are quite worried about this matter.
