Social Work Students Internship: Students keen on gaining practical experience in the social welfare sector will soon have the opportunity to work in Delhi government-run institutions for the elderly and persons with disabilities. The Social Welfare Department has released detailed guidelines and a framework for this student internship. The objective is to bridge classroom learning with real-life experiences and encourage students to understand the needs of vulnerable sections of society. **Who Can Apply**
This internship program is open to students pursuing undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) courses in disciplines such as Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Nursing, Law, and Special Education. Students currently in the second or fourth semester of their courses are eligible to apply.

**Two Types of Internships**
Students can choose between two types of internships. Under the field-based internship, they will work directly with the residents of these institutions, assisting with their care, rehabilitation, and daily routines. Meanwhile, the research internship will offer students the opportunity to evaluate welfare schemes and institutional services, prepare case studies, and assist with research-related tasks.

**Adherence to Code of Conduct**
To safeguard the privacy and dignity of the residents, the department has established a strict code of conduct for interns. Photography and videography within the institutions will not be permitted without the authorization of a competent official. Furthermore, interns are prohibited from sharing photographs, reports, or any information related to the institutions or their residents on social media or blogs.

Selected students will have the opportunity to work at institutions such as 'Asha Kiran' in Rohini, old age homes, and hostels for visually impaired students. During the internship, they will assist the elderly and persons with disabilities with their daily routines, support counseling and recreational activities, observe behavioral changes, and help with record management and data collection.

This internship will be entirely free of cost; students will not be required to pay any fees to participate. The department has also clarified that interns will not receive any stipend or honorarium. Students may apply either directly or through their colleges, while the final selection will be made by the Head of the Social Welfare Department. All participants will be required to submit a report upon completion of the internship.
