Haridwar Home Guard Recruitment Fraud: The department was left stunned following a thorough scrutiny of the documents submitted by approximately 11,000 candidates participating in the recruitment drive for 227 Home Guard vacancies in Haridwar. During the investigation, the department caught 30 candidates red-handed as they attempted to secure recruitment by submitting forged sports certificates, as well as fake NCC and Scout-Guide certificates.

Verification of all documents was conducted on the orders of the DG (Home Guards)
Following strict directives from the office of the Director General (DG) of Home Guards, and in an effort to ensure transparency, the department sent the certificates of all 11,000 applicants to the respective boards, universities, sports associations, and NCC units for verification. The verification reports revealed that the claims made by 30 candidates were entirely fraudulent; they had resorted to using forged documents to gain additional marks.

Irregularities found in NCC, sports, and Scout-Guide certificates
These forged documents included not only academic certificates (High School and Intermediate) but also fake sports certificates, Scout-Guide certificates, National Cadet Corps (NCC) certificates, and documents related to other reserved categories—all of which were intended to secure bonus marks.

Official statement from Home Guard Commandant Gautam regarding the recruitment
"In accordance with the directives of the DG, the certificates of all candidates were scrutinized before the recruitment process. Based on the verification received from the relevant institutions and units, approximately 30 candidates were found to be suspicious. Their applications have been cancelled. Their original documents have been confiscated, and written statements have been obtained from them to ensure that these documents cannot be misused elsewhere."
