Major change in Bihar DElEd: Up to 5% marks benefit now available; EWS category will not get relaxation..
A significant change has been made regarding D.El.Ed admissions in Bihar. The Bihar School Examination Board has issued new guidelines concerning reservation and eligibility. Under these guidelines, candidates belonging to reserved categories—excluding the EWS category—will be granted a relaxation of up to 5 percent in the required marks. The first merit list for D.El.Ed will be released on August 20. Candidates have until August 16 to submit their preferred institutions and options. The Board has also clarified that a minimum of 50 percent marks in the Intermediate (10+2) examination is mandatory; without this, candidates will not be considered eligible for admission.
**50% Seats Reserved for Science Stream**
Of the total D.El.Ed seats in the state's teacher training colleges, 50 percent will be reserved for students from the Science stream. Candidates from the Arts and Commerce streams will have the opportunity to secure the remaining 50 percent of the seats. Students who have completed vocational courses at the 10+2 level are also eligible to apply. Candidates who have completed Intermediate (10+2) after *Madhyama* or *Fauqania* will also be eligible.
However, candidates holding qualifications such as *Shastri*, Polytechnic, ITI, or other equivalent qualifications will not be eligible for D.El.Ed admission. Ten percent of the seats have been earmarked under horizontal reservation for candidates who have studied Urdu; this benefit will be available only to those who passed their Class 12 examination with Urdu as a subject.
**Fee Structure for Private Colleges Fixed**
The Board has also set a maximum fee limit for private D.El.Ed institutions. The maximum annual fee for the two-year course is capped at ₹60,000, with a total course fee limit of ₹1.20 lakh. Institutions charging fees in excess of this amount will face disciplinary action. Candidates must secure admission in the specific college allotted to them in the merit list; admission cannot be sought in a private institution if a government college has been allotted.
**Opportunity for 4,800 Students in B.Ed Counseling**
A list of approximately 4,800 students has been released for the sixth round of counseling for the two-year B.Ed program. Selected candidates can complete their enrollment at their allotted colleges by August 18. They will be required to carry their admit card, score card, allotment letter, Aadhaar card, academic certificates, caste or EWS certificate, and other necessary documents. A sum of ₹3,000 must be deposited to confirm the seat; this amount will subsequently be adjusted against the admission fee.
