June 2026 School Holidays: The page of the 2026 calendar is about to turn once again. As the month of June 2026 begins, the sun's intensity and scorching heat across the country have reached their peak. However, in certain states—including Delhi-NCR and Rajasthan—a decline in temperature has been observed over the past one or two days. Amidst this blistering sunshine and humid weather, children and parents eagerly await the annual summer break (Summer Vacation 2026).

In North Indian states such as Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Bihar, and Rajasthan, there is considerable variation regarding the duration of summer vacations and the dates for school reopening. While schools in some states will remain completely closed throughout June, others have modified their regulations this year, thereby shortening the vacation period. In some schools, teachers are required to report for duty, while in others, students from grades 9 through 12 attend special classes. Read on to find out the specific schedule for school holidays in your state for June 2026.

Delhi-NCR: Enjoying the Longest Vacation
In the national capital, Delhi, students have been granted the longest summer vacation this year. In both government and private schools across Delhi, the summer holidays will commence on May 11, 2026, and conclude on June 30, 2026. This translates to a lengthy break of 51 days for the children of Delhi. Schools in the capital are scheduled to reopen for regular operations on July 1, 2026.

Uttar Pradesh: Vacation Period Shortened This Time

A significant change has been implemented regarding the vacation regulations for government schools in Uttar Pradesh this year. Typically, schools in UP would remain closed from May 20 to June 30; however, this year, that vacation period has been curtailed. For schools falling under the UP Board and the Basic Education Council, summer vacations have been declared specifically from May 20 to June 15, 2026. This means that schools in UP will reopen starting from the middle of June (June 16). However, several major private schools have decided to extend this vacation period until June 30, taking into account the severe heat conditions.

**Haryana: Schools Closed Since May 25**

The Haryana government and the Directorate of Education had issued orders to close schools starting from the last week of May, in view of the prevailing weather conditions in the state. Schools in Haryana will remain closed from May 25 to June 30, 2026. All government and private schools in the state—having remained closed throughout the entire month of June—will now reopen directly on July 1, 2026. The regulations for private schools may vary.

**Bihar: Relief from the Start of June**

In Bihar, classes continued throughout the month of May this year; however, with the arrival of June, students have received significant relief. According to the official calendar of the Bihar Education Department, summer vacations will be observed in all schools across the state from June 1 to June 20, 2026. Following Sunday and Yoga Day on June 21, schools in the state will reopen on June 22.

**Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh: Schools to Reopen in the Third Week of June**

**Rajasthan:** Given the intensity of the heat in this desert region, holidays were initiated as early as May 17 and will remain in effect until June 20, 2026. Here, too, the new academic session will commence in full swing starting June 22.

**Chhattisgarh:** Students in Chhattisgarh have been granted an extended vacation. Here, schools have been closed for the period spanning from April 20 to June 15, 2026. Schools in the state are scheduled to reopen on June 16.

**Kendriya Vidyalaya Holidays: How Long Will KVs Remain Closed?**

Regarding Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) affiliated with the CBSE, schools in most of the country's plains regions (such as Delhi, Gurugram, Lucknow, Patna, Ranchi, Chandigarh, etc.) are closed from May 8 to June 16, 2026. Classes will resume in these regions starting June 17.
