Muharram is the first month of the Islamic calendar and Ashura is celebrated on the 10th day. This date depends on the sighting of the moon. Therefore, there may be a holiday on 6 or 7 July. Schools, colleges, and government offices will remain closed in states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Jharkhand, and West Bengal. If Muharram falls on 6 July (Sunday), then additional leave will not be given in some schools. But there is a high possibility of a holiday on Monday (7 July 2025).
Guru Purnima (10 July 2025, Thursday)
Guru Purnima is an important festival of Hindu, Jain, and Buddhist communities. It is celebrated in honor of the Gurus.
Many schools in states like Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttarakhand may be closed. Cultural programs may be organized in some schools, but there is no study on this day. There is no national holiday on Guru Purnima. The holiday on this day depends on the institution. Schools, colleges, or other institutions can give holidays on their own if they want.
Second Saturday of the month (12 July 2025)
In many states like Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Haryana, the second Saturday of the month is a holiday in schools.

Regional and weather-based holidays
