JNVST Class 6 Admission: The Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) has released the notification for the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST) 2027 for admission to Class 6. Applications for admission to Class 6 in Navodaya Vidyalayas for the 2027-28 academic session began on July 7. According to the schedule, the last date to apply is July 31, while the entrance exam will be held on November 28. The results will be declared by March/April 2027. This year, the exam is being conducted earlier compared to the last two years.
Eligibility for Admission to Navodaya Vidyalaya
To be eligible for admission to Class 6 in Navodaya Vidyalaya, a student must have passed Class 5 from a recognized school during the 2026-27 academic session.
The applicant must be a resident of the same district where they are applying for admission.
They must have completed their studies for Classes 3, 4, and 5 in recognized schools.
Students who have already passed Class 5 or are repeating Class 5 are not eligible to apply.
Age Limit
For admission to Class 6 in Navodaya Vidyalaya, the applicant's date of birth must fall between May 1, 2015, and July 31, 2017.
Changes in Admission Process
The Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti has modified the admission process this year. Students can apply only to the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya located in their district of residence. However, if a student studies in a neighboring district, the school must be located within an aerial distance of 10 km from the student's residence.
JNVST Exam Pattern
The Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya entrance exam will be of two hours' duration. The exam will be held from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM. It will consist of three sections containing objective-type questions. There will be a total of 80 questions carrying 100 marks.
1.25 marks will be awarded for each correct answer. There will be no negative marking in the exam. The examination will be conducted using OMR sheets.
**Reservation in Navodaya Vidyalayas**
75% of the seats in Navodaya Vidyalayas are reserved for children from rural areas. Admission to the remaining 25% of seats will be granted to children from both urban and rural areas based on a merit list. Students are allowed only one opportunity to take the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya entrance examination. One-third of the total seats in Navodaya Vidyalayas are reserved for girls. Regarding caste-based reservation, a minimum of 15% of seats are reserved for SCs and 7.5% for STs, in proportion to the district's population; the combined reservation for these categories will not exceed 50%. Additionally, students belonging to the OBC category will receive a 27% reservation.
