NVS JNV Class 6th Registration 2026: Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) will end the application process for admission to class 6 in the academic session 2026-27 tomorrow. Parents can fill out the online form for their children till 27 August 2025. This admission process is for the 2026 batch.
Parents are advised that if they want their child to study in Navodaya Vidyalaya, they should complete the application soon by visiting navodaya.gov.in or cbseitms.nic.in.
Exam Date: The Entrance exam will be held in two phases
Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST) will be conducted in two phases for admission to class 6. The first phase exam will be held on 13 December 2025, while the second phase exam will be held on 11 April 2026. Selection for 80 seats for class 6 in each Navodaya Vidyalaya will be done through the JNVST selection test. It will be mandatory for the students to clear this exam to get admission.
Seat Reservation Rules
A total of 75% of the seats in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya are reserved for students from rural areas, while the remaining 25% seats are given to students from both rural and urban areas based on merit. To avail the rural quota, it is mandatory for the student to pass classes 3, 4, and 5 from a government, government-aided, or recognized school in a rural area of his district.
Eligibility of Urban Students
Students who have studied classes 3, 4, and 5 at a school in an urban area will be considered urban students and will not be eligible for the rural quota. This rule ensures that maximum children from rural areas get the opportunity to study in Navodaya Vidyalaya.
How to apply?
First of all, go to the official website navodaya.gov.in or cbseitms.nic.in.
Click on the "Class 6 Admission 2026" link given on the home page.
Fill in the student's name, date of birth, mobile number, and other details on the registration page.
Upload scanned copies of required documents (eg. birth certificate, resident certificate, school certificate).
Check the form carefully and submit the final form.
After submission, keep the printout of the receipt/form safe with you.
