JNU PhD Admission Date Extended: Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has once again extended the date of registration for admission to PhD for the academic session 2025-26. According to the notification issued by the university administration, now interested students can apply online till 28 July 2025. Admission to PhD will be done through NET/JRF/GATE. According to the admission policy, 70% weightage will be given to UGC NET score, and the remaining 30% will be for viva-voice.
Eligibility and important things for admission in JNU PhD
Some necessary qualifications have been fixed for the candidates applying for the PhD program in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). The applicant must have at least 1 year of a master's degree (or 3+2 academic system) after a 4-year bachelor's degree, in which a minimum of 55% marks are mandatory. If the candidate has an M.Phil. degree, he can also apply, provided minimum 55% marks have been obtained in it too.
Students who wish to directly enroll in PhD after a 4-year bachelor's degree are required to have a minimum of 75% marks. Additionally, if an applicant has obtained a degree from an international university, that will also be valid, provided the degree is recognized in India.
Application Fee
Indian students have to pay a fee online on the pre-enrollment portal while accepting the offer of admission to PhD at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). This fee has been fixed at Rs 325 for general PhD courses, while students pursuing PhD in the School of Engineering will have to pay a fee of Rs 20,545. This payment will be accepted only in online mode.
