JNU Admission 2026: JNU has commenced the admission process for Undergraduate (UG) and Certificate of Proficiency (COP) courses for the 2026-27 academic session. Interested and eligible students can apply online by visiting JNU's official website, jnuee.jnu.ac.in. The deadline for submitting applications is July 22, 2026.
Admission based on CUET UG scores
Admission to BA (Hons), BSc, and various Certificate of Proficiency (COP) courses at JNU will be granted based on CUET UG 2026 scores. Candidates who have appeared for the CUET UG 2026 exam can apply for admission to the university based on their scores. Meanwhile, for the B.Tech program, seats will be allocated to candidates through the JEE Main, JoSAA, or DASA counseling processes.
What are the eligibility criteria for admission?
Students who are yet to appear for the Class 12 or equivalent examination are also eligible to apply.
For admission to COP (Certificate of Proficiency) programs, a minimum of 45% marks in the Class 12 or equivalent examination is required.
Candidates who obtained a Higher Secondary Certificate under the 10+1 education system will also be eligible for COP programs, provided they have secured at least 45% marks in the first year of a university undergraduate degree under the 10+1+3 system.
To complete the B.Tech program at JNU, students must earn a minimum of 155 credits.
The total duration of the B.Tech program will be 8 semesters.
Students can also earn additional credits by selecting elective courses.
Through additional courses, students will have the opportunity to develop interdisciplinary knowledge.
What are the reservation rules?
JNU has reserved seats for candidates from various categories in accordance with reservation norms during the admission process. At the university, seats are reserved as follows: 15% for Scheduled Castes (SC), 7.5% for Scheduled Tribes (ST), 27% for Other Backward Classes (OBC-NCL), and 10% for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS). This reservation will be implemented in accordance with the rules prescribed by the Central Government.
How will selection be determined in the event of a tie?
At least 5% of seats are reserved for candidates in the PwBD (Persons with Benchmark Disabilities) category.
Candidates in the OBC (NCL) category will receive a relaxation of up to 10% in the required percentage of marks for the eligibility examination.
Admission to the university will be based on merit, as the number of seats is limited.
There will be no oral examination (interview) for admission to BA, BSc, and COP programs.
If two or more candidates secure the same marks (a tie), priority will be determined based on the marks obtained in Class 12.
For undergraduate and COP programs, in the event of a tie, the candidate with higher marks in CUET UG or JEE Main will be given preference.
If the tie persists even after this, the marks obtained in Class 10 will be used as the basis for a decision.
Candidates whose examination results have already been declared will be given preference over candidates who are still awaiting their results.
