JEE Main Session 2 Result: The results for Session 2 (Paper-1 / BE / B.Tech) of JEE Main 2026 are likely to be released today. The NTA had announced this specific date within the official schedule for the JEE Main Session 2 examination itself. Once the NTA activates the result link, candidates will be able to check their scores by visiting the official website: jeemain.nta.nic.in.

For students who appeared in both sessions of JEE Main 2026, their best score out of the two will be considered. The NTA has once again implemented a normalization system while preparing the results to ensure a balanced standard across examinations conducted on different shifts and days. Let us take a look at the expected category-wise cutoff scores for the JEE Main Session 2 results.

What could be the Category-wise Cutoff?

Along with the JEE Main Session 2 results, the NTA will also release the category-wise cutoff scores. A review of data from the past five years indicates that the cutoff for the General category has consistently ranged between the 90th and 100th percentile. Conversely, for the OBC, SC, and ST categories, the cutoff levels have varied. Specifically, the cutoff is expected to hover around the 80 to 82 percentile range for GEN-EWS; 79 to 81 for OBC; 61 to 64 for SC; and 48 to 50 for the ST category.

How is the Cutoff Determined?

The JEE Main cutoff depends on several factors. The most critical among these are the total number of candidates appearing for the examination and the difficulty level of the question paper. If the paper is deemed difficult, the cutoff score may drop slightly. Most examinees and subject experts have indicated that the difficulty level of this year's paper was moderate. Consequently, it is anticipated that a slight variation may be observed in the cutoff scores.

Over 11 Lakh Students Appeared for the Session 2 Exam

The JEE Main Session 2 examination was conducted between April 2 and April 8, with a total of 11.23 lakh students participating. Just like JEE Main Session 1, Session 2 was also conducted in the computer-based mode—that is, the CBT mode. A normalization system will be implemented, similar to that of Session 1.
