JEE Main Answer Key 2026: NTA has released the answer key for the first session of JEE Main 2026, i.e., the January session. Millions of students were eagerly awaiting their provisional answer keys and response sheets. The National Testing Agency (NTA) officially announced that the provisional answer key and candidate response sheets for JEE Main 2026 Session 1 will be released by February 4, 2026. Students can easily download both documents from the official website: jeemain.nta.nic.in or nta.ac.in.
Objection Window Opens
With the release of the provisional answer key, the window for raising objections or challenging the answer keys has also opened. This window will open from February 4, 2026. The NTA has clearly stated that only paid challenges will be accepted, meaning that complaints made without money, without solid proof or reason, or in an unethical manner will not be entertained. Challenges must be made only through the Key Challenge link provided on the official website and within the stipulated time.
Results to be declared on February 12th
The JEE Main 2026 Session 1 result will be declared on February 12th, 2026. A total of 1.33 million candidates appeared for Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech) in the January session. The exam was held on January 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th, and 28th, 2026. The average attendance was 96.26 percent, and 4,314 of these candidates were from the PwD category. The overall level of the paper was moderate. Most shifts ranged from easy to moderate, and the paper was considered more balanced compared to last year, although the mathematics section seemed slightly more difficult than moderate in several shifts.
4 marks for a correct answer
As for the marking scheme, 4 marks are awarded for each correct answer. 1 mark is deducted for each incorrect answer, and no marks are awarded for questions left unanswered or left for review. Regarding the All India Rank (AIR), no AIR will be released after Session 1. The final All India Rank will be declared only after Session 2 (April 2026) is completed and the marks from both sessions are combined. The official JEE Main cut-off will also be released by the NTA along with the final results for Session 2, which will be after April 2026.
Last year, the paper ran until January 30.
Last year, the January session ran from January 22nd to 30th, and a total of 12 questions were dropped from the final answer key, mostly from the Physics section. Additionally, some significant changes have been made to JEE Advanced 2026. The application fee for foreign exam centers has been increased. The total number of exam centers has been reduced, and the list of exam centers, along with the zonal institutes, has been updated.
Keep an eye on the website.
Students should monitor jeemain.nta.nic.in for any updates. Check your response sheet and provisional answer key carefully. If you find a question incorrect, make a timely paid challenge, as without proof and without payment, the challenge will be in vain.
