JEE Main 2027: You can fill out the form even without an Aadhaar or PAN; registration is now possible using a passport..
JEE Main 2027: There is welcome news for NRI candidates preparing for JEE Main 2027. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has permitted candidates who do not possess documents such as an Aadhaar card, PAN card, or driving license to use their passport as a form of identification during the registration process. This will simplify the application procedure for Indian candidates residing abroad. According to a report in The Indian Express, the NTA confirmed this in response to a candidate's query on its official X (formerly Twitter) account. The application process for the first session of JEE Main 2027 began on October 24. Candidates can fill out their forms by visiting the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in. Furthermore, the NTA has introduced an additional facility: candidates are permitted to fill out an entirely new application form, even if they have already generated an application number or paid the examination fee.
Passport as a Valid Form of Identification
When applying for JEE Main, candidates are required to provide identity-related documentation—typically an Aadhaar card, PAN card, or driving license. However, many NRI candidates living abroad may not possess these specific documents, which could have previously caused difficulties during registration. A candidate inquired via the NTA’s official X account: "How can NRI candidates who do not have an Aadhaar card, PAN card, or driving license apply for JEE Main 2027? Can they use their passport as a form of identification?"
In response, the NTA clarified that candidates may use their passports to complete the application process. This update is particularly helpful for NRI applicants who were facing challenges with identity verification.
Option to Submit a New Form
The NTA has provided further relief to candidates regarding the application process for the first session of JEE Main 2027. According to a recent public notice, candidates may submit an entirely new application form. This facility is also available to those who have already generated an application number or paid the examination fee. In other words, candidates who have previously applied are also being given the opportunity to fill out a new form; however, they must exercise caution when entering information and verify all details thoroughly before submission.
Submit your JEE Main form without a late fee
Registration for the first session of JEE Main 2027 commenced on October 24. Candidates can apply without a late fee until November 22. Applications will remain open thereafter, but will be subject to an additional fee. As per the schedule set by the NTA, applications with a late fee can be submitted from November 23 to November 26. Candidates are, therefore, advised to complete their registration well in time rather than waiting until the final deadline.
Correction window to be open from November 27 to 29
Following the conclusion of the application process, the NTA will provide candidates with an opportunity to make corrections to their forms. A correction window will be open from November 27 to 29, during which candidates may modify specific details in their applications. Candidates should refer to the official NTA notification to determine which fields are eligible for editing; it should not be assumed that all information can be modified.
JEE Main 2027 examination to be held in January
The NTA has scheduled the first session of the JEE Main 2027 examination for January. The exam will be conducted on January 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, and 28. Candidates are advised to keep a close watch on the official website for further updates regarding the examination. The NTA has urged candidates to complete the application process within the stipulated timeframe. Before submitting the form, carefully check all the information entered. Once the application has been successfully submitted, download the confirmation page and keep it safe. New updates regarding the examination and other essential information will be made available on the official JEE Main website.
