JEE Main 2026: Millions of candidates will be appearing for the JEE Main examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). These engineering aspirants are in the final stages of their preparation and are eagerly awaiting the ‘Exam City Intimation Slip’. This document is released before the JEE Main admit card. Its main purpose is to inform candidates in advance about their examination city and date. This helps them make travel and accommodation arrangements promptly.

The JEE Main 2026 Session 1 exams will be held between January 21 and January 30, 2026.  The NTA usually releases the city slip approximately 10 to 15 days before the start of the examination. This means that in the first week of January, candidates will be able to download it from the NTA's official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in, using their login details. Please note that the city intimation slip is not the admit card, but only advance information.

What is the JEE Main City Intimation Slip, and why is it important?
The JEE Main City Intimation Slip provides students with information about their allotted examination city. The JEE exam is conducted at numerous centers across the country and abroad. Often, candidates have to travel to another city for the exam. This slip provides candidates with sufficient time to make logistical arrangements. It contains information about your exact exam date, city, and shift (morning or afternoon), but the name and address of the examination center are only provided on the final admit card.

How to download the JEE Main City Slip?
Once the JEE Main City Slip 2026 is released, it can be downloaded using the steps given below:
Visit the official NTA website jeemain.nta.nic.in.
On the homepage, click on the ‘JEE Main 2026 Session 1 City Intimation Slip’ link.
Enter your details, such as application number and date of birth.
Enter the security pin and press the ‘Submit’ button.
Your city slip will appear on the screen; download and print it for future reference. What is the difference between the JEE Main Admit Card and City Slip?
Most candidates are confused between the admit card and the city slip. Therefore, it is important to understand the difference between the two. The JEE Main City Slip only provides information about the city. You cannot gain entry to the examination center by showing this slip. The JEE Main Admit Card 2026, on the other hand, is issued 3-4 days before the exam. It contains the roll number, the exact address of the examination center, the reporting time, and important instructions. Entry to the JEE examination hall is not permitted without the admit card.
