Essential guidelines for the JEE Main 2026 Session 2 examination have now been released. Find out what items are mandatory to carry to the exam center and which items are strictly prohibited.
The wait for JEE Main 2026 Session 2 is finally over. The examinations are scheduled to be held in various shifts, commencing on April 2 and concluding on April 9. If you are appearing for this examination, it is crucial—especially during these final moments—to focus not only on your studies but also on understanding the essential rules and regulations associated with the exam. Even a minor oversight could prevent you from taking the test; therefore, ensure you are fully prepared in advance.
What You Must Carry
It is mandatory to carry certain essential items with you when heading to the exam center. First and foremost, ensure you have a printed copy of your JEE Main 2026 Admit Card; entry will be denied without it. Along with the Admit Card, you must carry a valid photo ID proof, such as an Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, or Voter ID. It is also mandatory to fill out and carry the Self-Declaration Form provided along with the Admit Card. Additionally, keep a passport-sized photograph handy. Among smaller items, you are permitted to carry a transparent ballpoint pen and a transparent water bottle. If you belong to the PwD (Persons with Disabilities) category, do not forget to carry your relevant disability certificate.
Items That Are Strictly Prohibited
Carrying several items into the exam center is strictly forbidden. Mobile phones, smartwatches, calculators, and any other electronic devices are completely banned. Furthermore, bags, purses, wallets, or any other extra luggage are not permitted inside. Study-related materials—such as notes, textbooks, or loose sheets of paper—are also not allowed. Food and beverage items are generally prohibited, although diabetic students are granted some exceptions. Avoid wearing metal accessories—such as chains, rings, or belts—as these may cause delays or complications during the security check process.
The Schedule
The JEE Main Session 2 examination is scheduled to be conducted between April 2 and April 9, 2026. This examination consists of two papers: Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech) and Paper 2 (B.Arch/B.Planning). Millions of students appear for this exam; therefore, it is crucial to check the details regarding the schedule and examination center well in advance.
Adhere to the Dress Code
On the day of the exam, it is best to wear simple and light-colored clothing. Garments with half sleeves are generally considered more suitable. Avoid wearing heavy footwear, jackets, or clothing with multiple pockets. Additionally, you should refrain from wearing any metal accessories to ensure a hassle-free entry process.
Important Points for Exam Day
It is absolutely essential to arrive ahead of schedule on the day of the examination. Aim to reach the exam center at least 1.5 to 2 hours prior to the scheduled time. Latecomers will not be granted entry, so pay strict attention to punctuality. Ensure that all information provided on your admit card is accurate. Once you have entered the examination hall, you will not be permitted to leave until the exam has concluded. Therefore, go into the exam mentally prepared and attempt the paper without any anxiety.
