JEE Main 2026: Many candidates' photos are mismatched in the JEE Main application; NTA has issued an advisory..
JEE Main 2026: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued an important advisory for candidates appearing in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2026. This advisory is for candidates whose uploaded photographs and identification document showed discrepancies. The NTA has extended the deadline for photo verification for such non-Aadhaar candidates to January 15th.
According to the official notice issued by the NTA, a link has been sent to the registered email IDs of the affected candidates, through which they will have to upload the certificate in PDF format. Candidates will also have to carry a printed copy of the certificate to the examination center on the day of the exam, where physical verification will be conducted.
Exams to begin on January 21st
The NTA will conduct the JEE Main 2026 Session-1 examination between January 21st and January 30th. Before the exam, candidates will be issued a City Intimation Slip providing information about their examination city, which will be available on the official website jeemain.nta.nic.in. Candidates can download it using their application number and password.
The NTA stated that JEE Main 2026 will be conducted in two sessions. Registration for Session-1 was conducted between October 31st and November 27th, 2025. During the application scrutiny, discrepancies were found in the identification documents and photographs of some candidates, leading to this action.
Guidelines issued earlier
Earlier, the NTA had asked candidates to upload a verified and signed certificate and a recent photograph from their school or college principal or headmaster. However, many candidates complained of difficulties in reaching the concerned authorities.
Taking these complaints into consideration, the NTA has relaxed the rules and now allows candidates to get the certificate verified by a Class-I Gazetted Officer. This includes Tehsildar, Revenue Officer, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), and District Collector. Indian candidates residing abroad can get the verification done by a Class-I Gazetted Officer at the Indian Embassy.
The NTA has advised candidates to complete all necessary formalities in advance to avoid any problems on the day of the examination.
