Today marks a crucial day for the lakhs of students preparing for the engineering entrance examination. The NTA is scheduled to release the provisional answer key for Session 2 of JEE Main 2026 today. Additionally, candidates will be able to access their recorded responses, which will assist them in estimating their probable scores.

Answer Key to be Released Today

Candidates who appeared for Session 2 of JEE Main 2026 will be able to check their answer keys today by visiting the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in. The NTA will release the provisional answer key for Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech.). Along with this, students will also be shown the details of the answers they provided during the examination. This feature proves highly beneficial for students, as it allows them to cross-check their answers from the comfort of their homes. It makes it easier for them to identify which questions they answered correctly and where they may have made errors. In this way, they can arrive at a clear estimate of their potential scores.

Objections Against Incorrect Answers Can Be Filed

Following the release of the provisional answer key, candidates will also be given an opportunity to file objections. If a student feels that the provided answer to a specific question is incorrect or if there is an error within the question itself, they may challenge it. However, to do so, candidates are required to pay a fee of ₹200 per question, which is non-refundable. The window for filing objections remains open for a limited time only; therefore, candidates must submit their objections within the stipulated deadline. The NTA prepares the final answer key only after reviewing these objections, thereby ensuring that the results are more accurate and fair. Final Results Expected by April 20

Following the release of the answer key and the completion of the objection-filing process, students are now awaiting their results. According to available information, the NTA is expected to announce the final results for JEE Main 2026 Session 2 by April 20, 2026. The normalization policy will be applied while compiling the results. This means that the scores of students who appeared for the exam in different shifts will be standardized to ensure a level playing field and provide a fair opportunity to all candidates. Furthermore, for candidates who appeared in both Session 1 and Session 2, the higher of the two scores will be considered for the final ranking. This rule has been established in the best interest of the students, allowing them to benefit from their best performance.

When Was the Exam Conducted?

The JEE Main 2026 Session 2 examination was conducted on a massive scale. The exam was held in a Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode on April 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8. Examination centers were established across 304 cities within India, and the exam was also conducted in 14 cities abroad. This clearly demonstrates that the examination holds significance not only domestically but also on an international level.
This year, approximately 11.23 lakh candidates participated in the examination, a figure that underscores its immense popularity and the high level of competition involved.

Candidates are now advised to first carefully review the answer key being released today. They should accurately cross-check their responses and, if any discrepancies are detected, file an objection within the stipulated time frame. Additionally, it is crucial to estimate one’s probable score and formulate a strategy for future preparations accordingly. Students who anticipate securing a good score may begin preparing for the subsequent counseling process.
