Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Admission 2026: Passing the JNVST exam is mandatory for admission to Class 6 at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya. The process involves an application, submission of required documents, and selection based on merit.

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Admission 2026: Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas are counted among the country's best government schools, offering free, high-quality education to children. Consequently, lakhs of parents wish to enroll their children here every year. Admission is not granted directly; instead, candidates must pass an entrance test known as the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST). Admission is primarily offered for Class 6.

To be eligible for Class 6 admission, a child must have passed Class 5 from a government-recognized school. Students are selected based on the number of seats allocated for each district. The application process is straightforward: first, visit the official website of the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (navodaya.gov.in), click on the registration link to fill out the form, and then submit the form after uploading the necessary documents.

Passing the entrance test is mandatory

To secure admission to a Navodaya Vidyalaya, students must pass the JNVST (Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test). This exam is conducted once a year and primarily consists of three sections: Mental Ability Test, Arithmetic Test, and Language Test. The exam is entirely objective-type, meaning it features multiple-choice questions.

The exam results are prepared based on merit, and students are selected according to the seats allocated for each district. Students who score well in this exam are granted admission to the Navodaya Vidyalaya in their respective districts. Documents Required for Admission

Certain essential documents should be kept ready for admission to Navodaya Vidyalaya to avoid any issues while filling out the form or during the verification process following selection. First and foremost, the child's birth certificate is required to verify their correct age. Additionally, the marksheet from the child's previous grade (Class 5) or a certificate issued by the school must be submitted.

Along with these, a recent passport-sized photograph of the child, the parents' identity proof, and—if the child belongs to a reserved category—the relevant caste certificate must also be provided. When filling out the form, copies of all these documents must be uploaded in the specified size and format.
