The report states that the total employment demand in India's information technology (IT) sector has increased to 1.8 million. This figure is 16 percent higher than last year. This means that the IT sector in India is performing well and demand is increasing.

Report Reveals the Following:

According to the 'India IT Workforce Trends 2025' report by workforce and talent solutions provider Quess Corp, India's IT hiring landscape improved in 2025, with total IT employment demand reaching 1.8 million roles. The report states that Global Capability Centers (GCCs) have increased their contribution to India's IT hiring market. Their share of the total demand during 2025 was approximately 27 percent, compared to about 15 percent in 2024.

Who Contributed the Most?

It further stated that product and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) companies also contributed to hiring, while IT services and consulting saw a marginal increase. Hiring in startups declined to low single digits amidst a slowdown in funding. During this period, mid-career professionals (with 4 to 10 years of experience) accounted for 65 percent of total hires, compared to 50 percent in 2024. Entry-level hiring accounted for 15 percent of the total demand.

Major Changes in the IT Sector by 2030

The arrival of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is expected to accelerate growth in the IT sector. A report on the IT sector indicated that the Indian IT sector could grow to more than $400 billion by 2030, from its current size of $264 billion. This means that the IT sector could significantly benefit from AI.
