Candidates created an uproar in Jaipur after a power outage occurred during the AIAPGET 2026 exam. According to the candidates, the computer systems shut down following the power failure, and the exam was subsequently cancelled.

Another case of irregularities has emerged in an exam conducted by the NTA. A major controversy has arisen regarding the arrangements at an All India AYUSH Post Graduate Test (AIAPGET) centre in Jaipur. A sudden power outage occurred during the online exam at Sri Sathya Sai College in Transport Nagar. Consequently, the computer systems shut down, affecting the exams of 49 candidates. Agitated candidates began creating a ruckus and shouting slogans outside the centre. Later, the exam centre observer announced the cancellation of the exam.

Candidates allege that the power went out just 15 to 30 minutes after the exam began. Since it was an online exam, the systems stalled immediately upon the power cut. Students stated that there were no adequate power backup or generator arrangements at the centre, which had already caused them to wait a long time for the exam to start.

Computers shut down mid-exam in Jaipur

Candidates created a commotion after the power supply failed during the AIAPGET 2026 exam. According to the candidates, the computer systems shut down after the outage, and the exam could not proceed. Candidates remained in the exam hall for some time, but when the systems failed to restart, they were escorted out and gathered in the grounds. The exam was scheduled to take place from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. No provision was made to compensate for the lost time following the power disruption, and the candidates were sent out of the centre. This sparked anger among the candidates, leading them to create a disturbance outside the venue.

Questions raised over lack of power backup

Following the power outage, candidates questioned the arrangements at the exam centre. They argued that adequate electricity and power backup facilities should have been in place for a national-level computer-based examination. According to students, the exam would not have been disrupted by the power outage had there been a power backup system in place. Reports indicate that the interruption was caused by a fault in the power supply system. Meanwhile, some candidates alleged that maintenance work on the power supply was being carried out while the exam was in progress.

Exam Conducted at 200 Centers

AIAPGET 2026 was held today, August 22, during Shift 1 at 200 centers across the country. A total of 36,979 candidates were registered for this shift, with 35,837 appearing for the exam. While 35,788 candidates successfully completed the test, 192 candidates had arrived at the Sri Sathya Sai PG College center in Jaipur. Due to a power outage at this location, 49 candidates were unable to complete their exam. The NTA held the conducting agency, Eduquity Career Technologies Private Limited, responsible for the power supply issue.

Exam Cancelled; Candidates Insist on Written Orders

Amidst the commotion, the exam center observer announced the cancellation of the exam. However, candidates demanded that the cancellation notice be provided to them in writing. They called for the cancellation of the exam for all candidates and a re-examination. Candidates also alleged instances of cheating during the test, claiming that the fairness of the exam was compromised when all candidates were escorted out simultaneously following the power outage. Some students claimed that candidates began discussing questions among themselves during the blackout; citing this, they are demanding that the entire exam be cancelled and re-conducted.

Re-examination Scheduled for September 1

The NTA has decided to conduct a re-examination for the 49 affected candidates on September 1, 2026, at 10:00 AM. This exam will take place at the Rajasthan College of Engineering for Women. New admit cards containing details of the exam center and other essential information will be issued to the candidates for the re-examination.

Exam for PG Admission of AYUSH Doctors

AIAPGET is conducted for admission to postgraduate courses in Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy. The exam is organized by the NTA and is held once a year in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode. It consists of 120 multiple-choice questions with a total of 480 marks. Four marks are awarded for each correct answer, while one mark is deducted for each incorrect answer (negative marking). The duration of the exam is two hours.
