MP TET 2026: The Madhya Pradesh Directorate of Public Instruction has fully clarified the position regarding the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) for in-service teachers. According to a new order issued by the department, it is mandatory for all in-service teachers appointed between 1998 and 2010—who have not yet passed the eligibility test—to appear for it.
Following the Supreme Court's order, teachers no longer have the option to avoid the examination.

**Questions Raised Regarding Impartiality**
Notably, the responsibility for conducting the MP TET exam has been assigned to the Board of Secondary Education instead of the State Staff Selection Board. The exam will be conducted in offline mode.
Consequently, teachers themselves will be assigned duties as invigilators at the exam centers. This has already sparked questions regarding the transparency and impartiality of the examination.

**Who Can Take the TET Exam?**

Teachers working in state government schools who have not passed the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) mandated under the Right to Education (RTE) Act are required to appear for the eligibility test. This applies to teachers at both primary and secondary levels.

Primary-level teachers: Assistant teachers, primary teachers, Contract School Teachers (Category III), and laboratory teachers fall under this category.

Secondary-level teachers: High-grade teachers, secondary teachers, *Adhyapaks*, and Contract School Teachers (Category II) must also take the exam if they have not passed the prescribed eligibility test.

Relief for CTET-qualified teachers: Teachers who have already passed the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) are not required to appear for this eligibility test again.

**Private School Teachers Can Also Apply**
Teachers instructing primary and secondary classes in private (non-government) schools in the state are also eligible to appear for this test; the opportunity to participate is not limited to government school teachers.

**Application Deadline: October 5**
Eligible teachers can apply online via the Staff Selection Board's portal. The deadline for submitting applications is October 5. Exam Center in the District of Employment
Generally, priority will be given to the teacher's district of employment when allocating exam centers. Such candidates will be assigned an exam center at the district headquarters of that same district. However, if the number of examinees in a district is low, they may be allocated an exam center in a nearby district.
