Indian educational institutions once again sound the bell of success in Asia, with 7 Indian universities ranked among the top 100.
Seven Indian educational institutions have been ranked among the top 100 in the QS Asia University Rankings 2025, including IITs Delhi, Mumbai, Madras, Kanpur, Kharagpur, IISc Bengaluru, and Delhi University.
It is a matter of pride for India that the country's prestigious educational institutions have once again shone in the list of Asia's top universities. According to the QS World University Asia Rankings 2025 released on Tuesday, the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) Delhi, Mumbai, Madras, Kanpur, and Kharagpur, as well as the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru and Delhi University (DU), have secured positions among the top 100 institutions in Asia.
Sharing this information, London-based ranking agency QS stated that a total of 7 Indian institutions have been ranked in the top 100, 20 in the top 200, and 66 in the top 500. This achievement reflects the quality, research capabilities, and global recognition of India's higher education system.
The Growing Influence of Indian Educational Institutions
According to the report, 36 Indian institutions have improved their rankings compared to last year. Sixteen institutions retained their previous positions, while 105 institutions experienced a decline in their rankings. Despite this, India's performance is considered more stable and better than that of other Asian countries.
QS stated that this year's "expansion" of the rankings was somewhat unstable due to increased competition and changing standards, but Indian universities have proven their strength.
IIT Delhi Remains India's No. 1 Institution
Among India's IITs, IIT Delhi has been declared the country's best institution for the fifth consecutive year. It ranked 59th at the Asian level this time.
Meanwhile, IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, IIT Kanpur, and IIT Kharagpur also made it to the top 100 list—proving that Indian technical institutions are consistently meeting global standards.
India Leads in Research and Innovation
QS reported that India ranks first in Asia in terms of the number of PhD holders and research work.
This means that Indian institutions are rapidly advancing not only in academics but also in research, innovation, and technology development.
Experts say that many Indian universities are now emphasizing international collaboration, digital education, and industry-related research, which is contributing to an improvement in their global rankings.
Delhi University and IISc also performed well
Delhi University (DU) also performed well this year. It is one of India's oldest and most prestigious universities, where millions of students apply for admission every year.
Meanwhile, the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, remains India's leading research and science institution. It is also respected internationally.
