Indian Army: The Indian Army is not only one of the largest and most powerful armies in the world, but it also instills a sense of patriotism in young hearts. Working in the Indian Army is the dream of every youth who wants to serve the country by wearing a uniform. But do you know that there are many ways to join the Indian Army and these ways vary according to your qualifications, age, and educational background?

NDA (National Defense Academy)
This is the most prominent and initial way to become an officer in the Indian Army. Male candidates who have passed the 12th class (Physics, Chemistry, and Maths) can take the NDA exam, which is conducted by UPSC. After being successful, there is an SSB interview and medical test. Selected candidates get training at NDA, Khadakvasla (Pune), and are later appointed in the Army, Navy, or Air Force with a permanent commission.

CDS (Combined Defense Services)
This is a great opportunity for the youth who have completed graduation. UPSC conducts this exam, after clearing which there is an SSB interview and medical. Through CDS, male candidates can get a short service commission or permanent commission by getting training in IMA (Dehradun) and women and men can get training in OTA (Chennai).

TES (Technical Entry Scheme)
Male candidates who have scored 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Maths in 12th and appeared in JEE Mains can directly participate in SSB interviews without written examination through TES. It allows becoming an officer in the technical branch and selected candidates are also given engineering training.

UES/TGC/SSC (Technical Graduates)
Students pursuing engineering can apply under the UES (University Entry Scheme) in the final year. Apart from this, engineering graduates can also become officers in the army through TGC (Technical Graduate Course) and SSC Tech Entry. In this process, candidates are directly called for an SSB interview.

Army GD, Clerk, Tradesman (Recruitment at Sepoy Level)

If you are 10th or 12th pass then you can apply for the posts of Sepoy, Clerk, Tradesman, Nursing Assistant, etc. in the Indian Army. This recruitment is done through a rally, which includes physical tests, medical, and online written examinations. This recruitment is regularly conducted at the zonal level.

Army Medical Corps (AMC)

There is a provision of direct commission in the Army Medical Corps for doctors holding MBBS or BDS degrees. Selection is done based on interviews and medical. Selected doctors get Captain rank directly and they serve in Army hospitals.

Judge Advocate General (JAG Entry)

If you have taken an LLB degree and are registered in the Bar Council, then you can become an officer in the legal branch of the Army. Candidates selected under JAG Entry are directly called for an SSB interview. The age limit is 21 to 27 years and women can also apply.

NCC Special Entry
If you are a graduate and have an NCC 'C' certificate, you can become an army officer directly through SSB interview without any written exam. Under this scheme, both men and women can apply for OTA (Short Service Commission).
