Indian Air Force Academy

Indian Air Force Academy is the training ground for pilots, ground duty, technical officers, and commissioned officers of the Indian Air Force. This academy was established in the year 1969. Presently it is situated in Dundigal, about 25 km from Hyderabad to Secunderabad. Apart from this, it also gave training to the officers of the Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard. It is a regular training center for all those cadets who want to make a career in the Indian Air Force.

This is how to get admission to Indian Air Force Academy

NDA: Candidates who want to apply for this exam must have passed class 12th. This examination is conducted by UPSC. This national-level examination is conducted twice a year. Candidates can appear for any NDA exam to make their career in the defense field. For admission to the Indian Air Force, candidates have to qualify for the examination and then pass the SSB interview process.

AFCAT: One can join the Indian Air Force Academy through the Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT). Candidates should be graduates or engineers. Candidates can apply for the Short Service Commission (SSC) in the Flying Branch of the Indian Air Force for 14 years with no provision for further extension. To apply for the AFCAT exam, candidates must be between 20-24 years of age at the time of commencement of the course. It is conducted twice a year by the Indian Air Force for various posts in flying and ground duties (technical and non-technical). Candidates who successfully clear the AFCAT are then called to the Air Force Selection Board (AFSB).

CDS: You can take admission in the flying branch of the Indian Air Force through CDS i.e. Combined Defense Services (CDS). This is only for male candidates. Cadets selected for training at the Indian Air Force Academy are trained as fighter pilots helicopter pilots or transport pilots.
