As the CA examinations scheduled for May 2026 draw near, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has issued a crucial guideline for candidates, outlining strategies for preparation. Furthermore, the guideline highlights how the role of a Chartered Accountant is evolving within the changing economic landscape. According to the ICAI, the CA profession has moved far beyond traditional accounting and auditing; Chartered Accountants now play a pivotal role in decision-making, governance, compliance, and financial strategy.

The ICAI also noted that the profession is expanding into specialized fields such as forensic accounting, risk management, insolvency, valuation, international taxation, and Fintech. Moreover, with the rise of automation, there is an increasing reliance on analytical skills and professional judgment. In this context, the ICAI has issued specific guidelines for registered CA candidates appearing for the May 2026 examination session. The ICAI has strongly emphasized that consistent study, regular revision, and self-assessment are indispensable for achieving success in one of India's most rigorous professional examinations.

**Examinations to Span the Entire Month**

The CA examinations scheduled for May 2026 will be conducted throughout the entire month. The Final examinations will take place from May 2 to May 12, as per the previously established schedule, while the dates for the Intermediate examinations have been revised. According to the updated timetable, the Group I examinations will now be held on May 5, 7, and 9, while the Group II examinations are scheduled for May 11, 13, and 15. There has been no change to the examination timings.

**ICAI Outlines Preparation Strategy**

According to the CA Institute, students should adopt a disciplined and concept-oriented approach to their studies rather than relying on last-minute preparation. Key suggestions provided for this purpose include:

*   Avoid rote learning and mere memorization; instead, develop a strong conceptual understanding of the core topics.
*   Utilize the study materials provided by the ICAI. Regularly solve mock papers and previous years' examination questions.
Plan a structured revision strategy to enhance retention.
Work on your answer-writing skills.
Keep abreast of amendments to laws and changes in the syllabus.
Utilize ICAI resources; participate in live classes, webinars, and digital learning sessions.
Maintain consistency—that is, adhere to a steady study routine.
Prioritize your health; strike a balance between your exam preparation and your physical and mental well-being.
