The country's premier Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) have adopted a tough stance against companies that have revoked job offers made during campus placements. The All IITs Placement Committee (AIPC) has warned over ten companies to either honor the offers made to students or provide compensation equivalent to three months' salary to the affected students.

**Allegations against the companies**
According to reports, several companies—including Oracle, Interview Kickstart, and SuperAGI—are accused of revoking or failing to implement job offers made to students from the 2026 batch. Approximately 100 students have been affected by this. The AIPC has now asked these companies to clarify the situation by August 15 and has given them time to find a resolution.

**Direct impact on students' futures**
Once students secure a job during campus placements, most stop applying to other companies. Many institutes also have rules prohibiting students from participating in further interviews after accepting an offer. Consequently, if a company withdraws an offer at the last minute, the student is left with very few employment options.

**Strict rules for companies**
Under AIPC guidelines, if a company revokes a job offer without a valid reason, it may be required to pay compensation equal to three months' salary to the affected students. Furthermore, such companies could be barred from participating in IIT campus placements in the future.

This move is considered significant because incidents of companies cancelling offers have increased in recent years. In 2025, more than twenty companies were barred from IIT placement drives due to similar conduct.

**Increased strictness following the Oracle controversy**
Reports emerged this year that Oracle had revoked full-time and internship offers made to students from several IITs and NITs. According to reports, this step was taken following global layoffs within the company, affecting dozens of students.
