IIT Admission 2026: The new academic session for first-year B.Tech students across all 23 IITs—the country's premier technology institutes—is set to begin on July 20. The admission process for the 2026-27 academic session will conclude in the third week of July. Following this, a one-week orientation program for new students will be held on the IIT campuses.

This program will provide students with the opportunity to get to know their peers, faculty members, and the campus environment. The respective IITs will introduce students to campus life, helping them overcome fears, hesitation, shyness, and the loneliness associated with living away from their families. Academic classes will commence thereafter.

**Classes to Begin After Orientation and Induction**
IIT Madras Director Professor V. Kamakoti stated that the admission process would conclude on July 23 and 24, marking the start of the new session for first-year B.Tech students. An induction program will follow the orientation, after which regular classes will begin. These programs will allow students to adjust to the new environment.

At IIT BHU, the new session will commence on July 22. Students will first complete their registration. Hostel allotment, biometric verification, and registration formalities will take place from July 27 to 30. Orientation is scheduled for July 30, followed by an induction program running from July 30 to August 5. Regular classes will begin on August 7.

Reporting for IIT Delhi also begins on July 22, followed by the orientation program and the commencement of classes. The new session at IIT Jodhpur starts on July 27. Professor Diganta Goswami, Dean of Academic Affairs at IIT Guwahati, announced that the new session there would begin on July 20.
