IIT Madras: Language will no longer be a barrier; IIT Madras has launched free online courses in Hindi..
Recognizing the growing need for Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has taken a significant step. Hindi-speaking students, teachers, and other interested individuals will now be able to study AI in their own language. Under its ‘AI for All’ initiative, IIT Madras has decided to launch six new AI courses in Hindi. These courses will be available for free on the SWAYAM Plus platform. The institute aims to make modern technologies like AI accessible to a wider audience by removing language barriers, enabling people from all walks of life to easily gain knowledge in this field.
**Free AI Courses to be Launched in Hindi**
IIT Madras will now offer six online courses related to Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Hindi. This initiative is part of the ‘AI for All’ campaign. These courses have been specifically designed for Hindi-speaking students, teachers, and anyone interested in learning AI. All courses will be available completely free of charge on the SWAYAM Plus platform, with durations ranging from 25 to 45 hours. Upon completion, interested participants can also obtain a certificate by passing an examination for a nominal fee.
**Decision Taken Following an Overwhelming Response**
IIT Madras launched the ‘AI for All’ initiative in May 2025. Approximately 4.2 lakh people registered for the first batch, while around 50,000 enrolled in the second batch. Given this growing interest and demand, the institute has decided to make these courses available in Hindi as well. Experts believe that studying in one's mother tongue makes it easier to grasp complex technical subjects. This move will help extend AI education to even the most remote areas of the country.
**Training to be Provided on These Topics**
The six courses launched in Hindi include topics such as ‘AI for Educators’ and ‘AI in Physics.’ Additional AI-based courses may be added in the future. SWAYAM Plus is an IIT Madras initiative under the Ministry of Education, currently offering over 430 online courses across more than 15 sectors. These include sectors such as engineering, banking, finance, hospitality, IT, and ITES. Many of the courses are credit-based and have been designed by experts from IIT Madras. So far, more than 3.7 lakh learners have registered on this platform.
