This year, campus placements at IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) Banaras Hindu University, or IIT BHU, in Varanasi, broke all previous records. In just five days, more than a thousand students received well-paying job offers, marking the fastest pace in years. Previously, placements used to take at least 10 days for this many students to secure placements, but this time, this milestone was achieved in just five days.
How many students registered?
This year, over 1,700 students registered for placements, with the highest number being around 1,100 B.Tech students. Meanwhile, approximately 550 M.Tech and IDD (Integrated Dual Degree) students and approximately 40 PhD students have registered.
17 students received packages exceeding Rs 1 crore
In just five days since the placements began, more than 1,000 students have received offer letters. On the first day alone, 17 students received packages exceeding Rs 1 crore. The highest package so far is Rs 1.67 crore per annum. The lowest package was Rs 29.23 lakh per annum.
300 major companies participated in the placements
This year, approximately 300 renowned companies from India and abroad have visited the IIT BHU campus. Among them, Hindustan Unilever, Bajaj Group, Texas Instruments, ThoughtSpot, ICICI Bank, Godrej, Walmart, and Flipkart, along with many multinational and Indian companies, are selecting students.
Why are IIT BHU students the top choice for companies?
The hallmark of IIT BHU students is that they possess more than just bookish knowledge, but also practical skills, problem-solving, and a keen eye for new technologies. These students are particularly strong in new technologies like coding, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science. This is why tech companies, finance companies, and major manufacturing companies prioritize them.
Opportunities for other students
Campus placements are currently underway, and many companies will visit throughout December and January. There are still plenty of opportunities for students who haven't yet been selected. Looking at the trend in previous years, 85-90 percent of students are placed by the end. The same is expected this year as well.
