IIM Mumbai MBA: If you are thinking of doing an MBA, then there is news for you from IIM Mumbai. The institute is going to start an MBA course in Innovation and Entrepreneurship from the academic session 2025-26. The institute is already in the process of setting up an in-house incubation center to promote entrepreneurship. IIM Mumbai, formerly known as NITIE, has started with three courses under its new name from 2024-25. These courses are - MBA (General), MBA in Sustainability and Management, and MBA in Operations and Supply Chain Management. The institute is also set to start an MBA course along with two executive courses. The classes of the executive course starting for working professionals will run in online mode and on weekends. Professor Manoj Tiwari, Director, of IIM Mumbai, said, “The content of the MBA in Innovation and Entrepreneurship course is ready and awaits approval from the Academic Council, which should come soon. We plan to start this new course from the new academic year, as well as introduce an online MBA course, which is available on our website and interested candidates can apply for. A weekend MBA course is also in the plans.”

Funds needed for the incubation centre

The institute has sought funds from the government for the incubation center, though it is confident of being able to raise funds on its own with the help of its alumni and industry.

280 students placed

During placements, IIM Mumbai has seen a positive impact of its new status, with more companies visiting the campus and recruiting students with higher average salary packages.

In the first phase of the placement process, about 280 out of 480 students have been placed. "After getting the IIM status, more companies are willing to participate in our placements. The average salary package has increased from Rs 25-26 lakh to Rs 35-36 lakh," Tiwari said, adding that of the placements completed, 142 are pre-placement offers and 134 are those of students who have work experience before joining IIM. The second phase will now end in January, which will include the remaining students.
