If you fail the internal examination, you will have to lose the whole year. Jamia Millia Islamia has implemented new rules

Jamia Millia Islamia has made a big change in the examination system; now it will be necessary to pass the internal exam before appearing in the end-of-semester exam.
Jamia Millia Islamia University has made a big change in its examination rules. Now students will have to pass the internal examination before appearing in the end-of-semester examination. That is, if the students do not pass the internal exam, they will not be allowed to appear in the final examination.
This decision has been taken by the Executive Council of Jamia and it will be implemented from the academic session of 2025-26. This new decision of the council has directly affected the preparation and study methods of thousands of students.
Jamia has now decided to adopt a 40:40 evaluation system in four-year undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) courses. Under this, students will be required to score at least 40% marks in internal assessment and minimum 40% marks in final examination. Passing in both is mandatory.
Earlier, different rules were applicable for different courses in the university. 40:60 formula was applicable in science courses. There was a ratio of 25:75 in subjects like humanities and social sciences.
But now this difference will end and the same rules will be applicable in all courses.
Who will get exemption?
However, not all courses will come under the purview of this new rule. Jamia administration has clarified that such courses, which come under regulatory bodies like AICTE, COA, DCI, NCTE and BCI, will be exempted from this new evaluation model for now.
Theory exam time reduced
Along with this change, Jamia has also reduced the duration of theory examination. Till now the theory examination used to be of three hours, but now it has been reduced to two hours. The university says that this will make the examination process more effective and timely.
Different rules for lab-based courses
According to the notification issued by Jamia, the 50:50 evaluation model will continue in lab-based courses. However, here too, students will have to score a minimum of 40-40 per cent marks in both theory and practical to pass.
